Important Reminders for School Visitors
Single Point Entry: Rowayton Elementary is a Single Point Entry School. This means that all visitors must report to the front door during the school day. Please use the bell to announce your arrival. You will be asked to state your name and the reason for your visit.
Visitors to Classrooms: All visits to classrooms or learning spaces must be scheduled ahead of time with the host teacher. Visitors will be asked to report to the office or Security Desk and show identification to get a Visitor’s Pass. No one can enter a classroom, learning space, or hallway unless they are a planned guest that has been signed in.
Late Arrival of Students: Students arriving late (after 9:05am) should report to the office with an adult so that they can be signed in and escorted to class by school staff. A reason for the late arrival will need to be provided.
Delivery of Items: Items such as lunchboxes, instruments, or water bottles will be handed directly to the Security Guard or Office Staff at the front door and will be delivered to the student. You may also be asked to leave the item at the front door and we will retrieve it at a later time. If water or lunch is forgotten, please note that we have filtered water fountains throughout the school so that all students have access to water. All students also have access to breakfast, snack, and lunch choices.
Thank you for your support of our Safety and Security Protocols.
Rowayton Students Open the Islanders Game Singing the National Anthem!
Any Rowayton students that attend this game are invited to perform the National Anthem on the ice before the game. Students have learned the National Anthem during Music classes with Miss Londono. She will be there to conduct the performance and cheer on the Islanders!
NWEA MAP Growth Assessments February 3 - February 14
NWEA MAP Growth assessment is a nationally standardized test which measures what students are ready to learn by using a computer adaptive test that adjusts to the individual. Your child's teacher will use the results of the NWEA MAP Growth assessments to better understand your child's individual needs in order to promote progress. Students in Grades K through 5 at Rowayton will participate in the NWEA MAP Growth assessments in math and literacy at various times in the year.
The window for administering these tests is coming up. Your child’s teacher can provide you with a more a more detailed outline of the testing schedule.
If your child must be absent during this window, a make up date will be arranged. The last day for make-ups for this session is February 14. Teachers have prepared for positive and calm testing environments. We are also talking about testing strategies and goal setting during Community Builder Meetings.
Please join us in ensuring that our students are both mentally and physically prepared. We encourage rest the night before, and breakfast will be available at school if needed. Thank you for your continued support!
It is Time to Wear Coats!
As the temperatures drop, it is important that all students wear or bring a coat to school for recess. A oat is and additional covering that students can wear when outside, not a fleece or sweatshirt. We will try to be outside for recess as long as the weather allows, so students must be dressed appropriately to participate. Hats, gloves, and ear muffs are also encouraged. Consider putting your child's name or initials inside any items so that they can be easily identified if they end up in the Lost and Found. The Lost and Found will continue to be displayed on the wall in the cafeteria.
