What You Need to Know for the Holiday Sing Along

Attire

Kindergarten: White Shirt

Grade 1: Red Shirt

Grade 2: White Shirt with any color hats, gloves, and scarves

Grade 3: Blue Shirt (any shade)

Grades 4 and 5: Rowayton Music Shirt (to be distributed next week)

All grades should wear dark colored pants or skirts (black, brown, dark jeans, etc.). Dresses that match your grade level's assigned color are also fine. It is not necessary to purchase any attire for the show. Shirts with logos or emblems are fine as long as the dominant color matches your grade level. Students are welcome to wear festive accessories. Please be sure the accessories would not obstruct the view of a student standing near or behind them. If you have any questions, please email Miss Londono at LondonoS@Norwalkps.org

The Holiday Sing Along is one of our biggest family events. This year, you can beat the lines by getting your pass early! Visitors can get preprinted ID passes then enter and sign in at the back door on December 14. Doors will open at 1:30pm. Anyone without a preprinted pass will have to show ID and sign in at the office. You can get a preprinted pass December 11 through December 14 at noon.

  • If you have visited Rowayton before, we have your identification information saved in our Raptor system. Starting December 11, you can call or email the office and share the names of the people attending. We will pre print your pass and send it home with your student. The day of the event, please wear your pass then enter and sign in at the back door. Call the Main Office or email Tatiana (cadavidt@norwalkps.org) or Vernita (grastyv@norwalkps).org to get your passes sent home.
  • If you have not visited Rowayton before but want to get your pass ahead of time, stop by the office with your ID and the office staff can print you a pass for Thursday. The day of the event, please wear your pass then enter and sign in at the back door.
  • If you do not get a preprinted pass, you will have to report to the main office with your ID.

No visitors will be allowed entry without ID. Seating is first come, first served. The front row of seats are reserved. There will be additional standing room to the sides and back of the seats.

There is no early pick up option this date as we expect the concert to end right before dismissal.

Raffles
There will be two raffles that day at the entry: Ride to School in a Firetruck and Gift Certificate to Outdoor Sports. Raffle Tickets will be $5 each and cash only. All proceeds from the raffles will benefit the Legacy Pathway Project.

Therapy Animal Visits During Wellness Week

To start Wellness Week, each grade level will view a presentation by teams of animals and humans from Pet Partners of Fairfield County. The teams will be teaching students about the role and value of therapy animals. The animals that are visiting include dogs and guinea pigs. The animals will be controlled at all times. Students will observe the animals in order to expand their learning. Teachers will review the proper protocol for observing the animal visitors in order to maintain a calm and stress free environment.

Exposure to live animals for the purpose of learning is a wonderful experience. Observing animals instills a sense of caring for all life and builds knowledge. We understand that some of our students may have allergies or may not want to participate in this experience. If you do not want your child to participate, please let your child's teacher know by December 8 and we will provide an alternate activity. Thank you for your continued support.

Help Us Complete the School Governance Council Legacy Pathway Project

This past spring our School Governance Council introduced the Legathy Pathway Project. This project will increase safety by improving our front path and walkways. The front path is a high traffic area used daily by our bus riders, walkers, and visitors. The project will also create multiple unique learning spaces around our campus with the installation of benches.

In a short amount of time we raised $45,000. Now we need to reach our final goal of $75,000 so that we can have the path and benches installed this spring.

There will be some upcoming opportunities to donate or fundraise during November and December These include:

  • Legacy Pathway Project donation table at the Rowayton Turkey Trot
  • Literacy NIght Bake Sale and Raffle
  • Holiday SIng Along Raffle

You can always make a cash or check donation directly to school. Please share this project with your family and friends. Thank you for your support.

Attendance Matters

Good attendance gives your child the best chance to be successful at school. We understand that sometimes children are sick and cannot be at school, but it is important for them to attend each day they are able. Students are considered chronically absent by the State of Connecticut when they have missed 10% of the current days of school. The total includes both excused and unexcused absences. Students with even more absences are considered dangerously absent.

In order to support our community with attendance, we will be sending letters to families of students that are currently considered chronically absent each month. Please contact the office if you have any questions or if there is anything we can do to support you in ensuring that your child is at school. You can always contact our school nurse if you have any questions about your child's health. Please note that if your child is absent for reasons other than illness, the absences will likely be recorded as unexcused. Teachers may only provide school work for students who absent due to quarantine or other special circumstances.
