Rowayton's One School, One Book Reveal!
We are thrilled to announce our 2024 celebration of One School, One Book! We cannot wait to begin the journey of reading with our entire school community.
One School, One Book is an event that takes place at schools across the country. Schools choose a book to read all together. For the next month, students get to read with their teachers, family, and friends – they can even read to pets!
Each family will receive a copy of the book to keep at home. Students will be getting the book to bring home today so that we can start reading together on Monday, March 18. If your family has more than one child at the school, the oldest sibling receives the copy of the book to take home.
On Monday, students will receive a calendar with assigned days for reading certain chapters. We will be sharing a link to recordings of our staff reading the chapters of the book for families to follow along at home. As we read, students will have the opportunity to participate in many activities and lessons. We will have some art displays, decorated bulletin boards, celebrations, and special announcements! There will also be raffles and contests, so be sure to keep up on your reading.
Thanks to Miss Curri and the PTA One School, One Book Committee for building this special experience!
Rowayton's 2024 One School, One Book is...
Wishtree by Katherine Applegate
Trees can't tell jokes, but they can certainly tell stories. . . .
Red is an oak tree who is many rings old. Red is the neighborhood "wishtree"—people write their wishes on pieces of cloth and tie them to Red's branches. Along with a crow named Bongo and other animals who seek refuge in Red's hollows, this wishtree watches over the neighborhood. You might say Red has seen it all. Until a new family moves in. Not everyone is welcoming, and Red's experience as a wishtree is more important than ever.
Funny, deep, warm, and nuanced, this is Katherine Applegate at her very best—writing from the heart, and from a completely unexpected point of view.

Adventures with Elvis
Elvis has left the building! Well...he left the pet store and moved to Rowayton School! Please join us in welcoming Elvis, a very special long haired Guinea Pig. Mrs. Saunders helped bring Elvis to our school and her class is doing an amazing job of welcoming him to our community. They are learning to care for him and including him in daily activities. Mrs. Saunders's class will be bringing him to classes so we can all meet him. Exposure to animals for the purpose of learning is a wonderful experience for our students. Thanks, Mrs. Saunders! Elvis ROCKS! Check out some photos from Elvis's first week at school.

Help Us Promote Safety at School
We will be adding some new signs to our main entry and side doors. We know it is always courteous to hold the door for a person behind you, but we are asking that you support our safety protocols and not hold the door for other visitors to enter when you are entering or exiting the building. All visitors should report to the Security Desk or Main Office to check in. If the Security Officer is away from her desk, please report to the Main Office. Thank you for your continued support.
