Save the Date for the Rowayton Walkathon
Safety Reminders
A reminder that we have procedures in place in order to reduce the number of visitors in the building.
- Please always ring the bell at the front door and state the purpose of your visit when prompted.
- When delivering items such as sneakers, water bottles, lunch boxes, or instruments, Mr. Rey will get them from you at the door or you may be asked to leave them near the steps.
- If students are arriving late, only the students need to enter the building. Please state their names and the reason for the late arrival when prompted and we will sign them in and get them to class.
- If you are entering the building, please do not hold the door for anyone behind you. Each party visiting the school must ring the bell.
- Please bring your ID every time you are visiting either to volunteer or pick up your child.
- Lost and Found in the cafeteria can be visited after school (3:55pm).
Rock Your School September 29
Rock Your School is a nation wide initiative to encourage teachers and schools to participate in educational experiences that are creative. Join us in celebrating this special day by dressing like a rockstar, or your favorite musician or singer. There will be a sign on the front lawn for photos. Upper grade students will be singing a song on the front lawn during their Specials classes that day.
Every Friday is Spirit Day
We celebrate school spirit every Friday by wearing blue, yellow, and/or Rowayton gear. You can use the QR code below to browse new items and fill your closet!
School and Family Compact
We are pleased to introduce our School–Family Compact, a shared agreement that outlines the commitments of staff, students, and families in working together to support every child’s growth and success. This compact was designed by our School Governance Council with input from our community. The compact directly aligns with our school goals, reinforces our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, and connects to district initiatives rooted in the Portrait of a Graduate. By clearly defining roles and responsibilities, the compact ensures that all partners contribute to creating a supportive environment. We are committed to fostering student achievement, building character, and preparing our learners with the skills they need to thrive both in out of school. We are asking students, staff, and families to sign the compact to show our collaboration in this effort. Please ask your child's teacher if you have not seen a copy of the compact.
NWEA Growth Assessments
NWEA MAP Growth assessment is a nationally standardized test which measures what students are ready to learn by using a computer adaptive test that adjusts to the individual. Your child's teacher will use the results of the NWEA MAP Growth assessments to better understand your child's individual needs in order to promote progress. Students in Grades 1 through 5 at Rowayton will participate in the NWEA MAP Growth assessments in math and reading at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.
The window for administering these tests started September 16. Your child’s teacher can provide you with a more a more detailed outline of the testing schedule.
If your child must be absent during this window, a make up date will be arranged. Teachers have prepared for positive and calm testing environments. We are also talking about testing strategies and goal setting during Community Builder Meetings.
Please join us in ensuring that our students are both mentally and physically prepared. We encourage rest the night before, and breakfast will be available at school if needed. Thank you for your continued support!
