Valentine's Day at Rowayton School
We are looking forward to celebrating Valentine's Day with our students. We kindly ask that classroom Valentine’s cards and celebrations focus on non-food items. There are many fun alternatives such as stickers, bookmarks, pencils, or small trinkets. We also love seeing our students’ creativity and welcome homemade valentines!
If you need a class list of names, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher directly. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe and joyful school environment.

TheLetGrowProject
Rowayton's Let Grow Action
In alignment with the Let Grow Project, we would like to offer for students in Grades 1 and 2 to be walkers only if they have an older sibling to join that is also a walker. This is a family choice and is dependent on your child's level of independence and responsibility. If you would like to utilize this change, please make the updates in PUP. The older sibling(s) must go to the youngest sibling's room when walkers are dismissed and pick them up inside the building. Students in Grades 1 and 2 will not be dismissed out of their classroom as walkers without an older student. You must also indicate in PUP the destination for your walkers. This option is not available for Kindergarten students.
NWEA Assessments
Some dates were changed due to the snow days last week. Please check with your child's teacher for the schedule.
NWEA MAP Growth assessment is a nationally standardized test which measures what students are ready to learn by using a computer adaptive test that adjusts to the individual. Your child's teacher will use the results of the NWEA MAP Growth assessments to better understand your child's individual needs in order to promote progress.
The window for administering these tests starts January 28. Your child’s teacher can provide you with a more a more detailed outline of the testing schedule. If your child must be absent during this window, a make up date will be arranged. Teachers have prepared for positive and calm testing environments. We are also talking about testing strategies and goal setting during Community Builder Meetings.
Please join us in ensuring that our students are both mentally and physically prepared. We encourage rest the night before, and breakfast will be available at school if needed. Thank you for your continued support!
