School and Family Compact

We are pleased to introduce our School–Family Compact, a shared agreement that outlines the commitments of staff, students, and families in working together to support every child’s growth and success. This compact was designed by our School Governance Council with input from our community. The compact directly aligns with our school goals, reinforces our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, and connects to district initiatives rooted in the Portrait of a Graduate. By clearly defining roles and responsibilities, the compact ensures that all partners contribute to creating a supportive environment. We are committed to fostering student achievement, building character, and preparing our learners with the skills they need to thrive both in out of school. We are asking students, staff, and families to sign the compact to show our collaboration in this effort. Please ask your child's teacher if you have not seen a copy of the compact.

Walkers Must Have a Destination Entered in PUP

Only students in grades 3 through 5 may be walkers. All students that are walkers must have this recorded in Pick Up Patrol along with a destination. All families should have Pick Up Patrol set by Monday. Please call the office if you need support. Thank you for your support with this procedure.

NWEA Growth Assessments

NWEA MAP Growth assessment is a nationally standardized test which measures what students are ready to learn by using a computer adaptive test that adjusts to the individual. Your child's teacher will use the results of the NWEA MAP Growth assessments to better understand your child's individual needs in order to promote progress. Students in Grades 1 through 5 at Rowayton will participate in the NWEA MAP Growth assessments in math and reading at the beginning, middle, and end of the year.

The window for administering these tests starts September 16. Your child’s teacher can provide you with a more a more detailed outline of the testing schedule.

If your child must be absent during this window, a make up date will be arranged. Teachers have prepared for positive and calm testing environments. We are also talking about testing strategies and goal setting during Community Builder Meetings.

Please join us in ensuring that our students are both mentally and physically prepared. We encourage rest the night before, and breakfast will be available at school if needed. Thank you for your continued support!
