Get Ready to Rock!
Calling all Rockstars! Friday, September 29 is worldwide Rock Your School Day.
Join us in the front of the school at arrival for a performance by our own teachers, Mr. Kiernan and Miss Londono. At 2:45, all families are welcome to a concert on the blacktop performed by some of our talented parents. Teachers around the world will be building excitement for learning by delivering out of the box and engaging lessons to their students! Students can show how much they ROCK their learning by dressing like their favorite rockstar. Come ROCK with us! HOW DO MY CHILDREN RAISE MONEY?
Teach your children about fundraising and communication with family and friends, in addition to raising money for the PTA! To help reach your child's goal in a fun and enriching manner, we have included https://app.99pledges.com/fund/rowayton2023 for them to send to family and friends.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
The PTA supports initiatives like teacher classroom wish lists, enrichment programs, field trips, and helping families in need throughout the year, just to name a few!
Let us know if you have any questions by reaching out to Nadya Bhattiprolu, Kiki Egil or Julia Massengill
Spread the Word to Support Our Cozy Corners
Our own Mrs. Bria (school counselor) has created a Donor's Choose grant to gain materials and tools for each of our classrooms in support of our students' emotion regulation skills. Please consider donating. Use the code LIFTOFF. If you donate in the next few days your donation will be matched up to $50. WOur staff and students appreciate your support.
Mrs. Bria's Project: School-Wide Cozy Corners for Self-Regulation
Our elementary school would like the opportunity to create a safe space in our classrooms where students are able to self-regulate, reflect, and refocus. These spaces will provide accessible tools to help students cope with big feelings and calm their bodies. This will help students transition back to learning as quickly as possible.
Feelings posters and calming visuals, as well as different types of fidgets and sensory tools will be available in every room to assist students as they self-regulate. Our hope is that students will be able to independently go to a safe space in their classroom, set a timer, choose and use a coping strategy, and then get back on track. Please help us in cultivating a positive learning environment for ALL of our students!
September is National Library Card Sign Up Month!
Did you know that September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month? All Rowayton students can register for a library card at our neighborhood library, Rowayton Library. Library card applications are being sent home with students, but you can also stop by the library or register online to get your child's library card. Rowayton Library hosts a number of activities and events throughout the year for children of all ages. Click here to see the schedule of activities.
Check Out the Rowayton Register on Instagram!
The Rowayton Register is a video summary of events that occurred at school this week and reminders for the upcoming week. We know that we have many busy families and we hope the Rowayton Register will help keep you informed when you're on the go. Remember that more details can always be found in the weekly Sunday Smore, on our website, or on the Rowayton PTA website. We look forward to growing and showing you our communication skills as we develop this piece!

Safety Drills for September
During the month of September, we practice and review two types of safety drills: Fire Evacuation and Lock Down. We successfully practiced our Fire Evacuation Drill the first week of school. On September 29, teachers will review what actions we take if we were to have a Lock Down. We do not actively simulate this situation. Teachers will have conversations about reporting to safe locations in various settings of the school, and staying quiet. If you do not want your child to participate in this conversation, please let your child's teacher know by September 28. We will continue to review or practice one safety drill each month. Our staff and Safety Committee are commended for their attention to these procedures and protocols.
