Celebrate the Eclipse and National Schwa Day with Sunglasses!
Rowayton will recognize two great events next week by wearing eye gear!
Monday, April 8: Eclipse
Earlier today, Norwalk Public Schools shared some information about the Solar Eclipse taking place on April 8. The district has provided special solar eclipse glasses for all of our students so that they can view the eclipse safely. Students will receive their glasses on Monday and bring them home to keep for continued safe viewing after school. All classes will be learning about the eclipse and celebrating this memorable event in different ways. Please look out for a communication from your child’s teacher on any special events that day.
Thursday, April 11: National Schwa Day
A schwa is a sound in the English language that we use every day. It is the most used sound in the English language when reading, writing, speaking, and listening! The schwa is the sound that we produce when we say words that have an unstressed syllable. It makes a word sound more relaxed. To mimic a cool and relaxed feeling, we are encouraging all students to wear sunglasses at school on Thursday, April 11. Students are welcome to bring sunglasses from home and wear them throughout the school day.

A Message from Our One School, One Book Team on a New Project!
Hope you’re all enjoying Wishtree! We have another fun project for you. We’ve included two colorful paper shapes to take home. Use your imagination and create a house. This house should represent you. It can be the house you live in or a house that represents your culture & heritage or even your dream house! Be creative! You can use the shapes anyway you’d like, maybe a house with a roof or an apartment building. Feel free to add paper for a bigger house or cut the paper any shape you’d like. Don’t forget details like windows and doors. Use any materials you’d like: paint, glitter, fabric, crayons, ect. Bring your houses back to school next Tuesday April 9th and we’ll hang all them altogether to create a neighborhood!
Don't forget to keep up with your reading and optional activities. You can find read alouds on our school website under the activities tab.
